What is EWG VERIFIED?

• When you see the EWG VERIFIED mark on a product, you can be sure it’s free from EWG’s chemicals of concern and meets its strictest standards for your health.
• The EWG VERIFIED program is the only third-party certification or evaluation program that publicly discloses its full criteria, has scientists on staff, and requires full transparency of ingredients – including fragrance.
• The scientific standards underlying the EWG VERIFIED program are backed by decades of research and expertise in toxic chemicals and human and environmental health. These strict standards are dynamic – they’re updated annually to reflect the latest scientific evidence available.

Are we seeking to verify all Shaklee personal care and cleaning products?

• It is a goal to verify as many Shaklee products as possible. While Shaklee has the best clean standards in the industry, some formulations may not be compatible with EWG’s criteria and may therefore be ineligible for the seal.

What about Shaklee Nutrition products?

• At this time, the EWG VERIFIED program only evaluates personal care and cleaning products.

Besides EWG VERIFIED products, how does EWG choose all the other products to score 1 – 10 or A- F? 

EWG receives product inquiries from various sources, such as recommendations from consumers, third parties like label insight, and/or brands that reach out asking to upload their products into the Skin Deep system. Skin Deep scores products based on the ingredient lists on the label. EWG VERIFIED products, on the other hand, are evaluated by the entire formula, not just an ingredient list.
