We learned about Shaklee from a friend of my mother’s who was sharing the amazing Basic-H® and just had to share it with us. I started using the Shaklee products in 1960. I added other products as I learned about them and I started sharing Shaklee with others while attending college which is where I met Reed.
Reed married into using the Shaklee products. He reluctantly started with the Vita-Lea® and protein challenge. The challenge entailed using Vita-Lea and Instant Protein for 30 days and if they did not feel better, they would get their money back. Reed was a student teacher at Southern Utah State College at the time and loved working with the students. Within a few days of doing the Vita-Lea/Instant Protein challenge, he realized the products were making a difference in how he felt and also his energy level. He became a believer. While he was teaching, we were also building our Shaklee business. So when it was time to renew his teaching contract, Reed and I had a decision to make — to stay with teaching or fully commit to building our Shaklee business. We decided to commit to Shaklee. A Shaklee business was going to be best for the lifestyle we wanted to create for our family. And we knew that a Shaklee business would be a great avenue for helping other people. It has been one for the best decisions we have ever made.
Our ultimate “Shaklee Effect” has been the changed lives of the hundreds of people we’ve introduced to Shaklee…all because of the purchase of one product in 1960.
One of the rewards that come with sharing Shaklee is the incentive trips. Over the last 55 years, it’s hard to choose just one trip that was our favorite. One of the most memorable was a trip to Austria. We danced the waltz in a Viennese castle. It was more than we could have possibly imagined!
One of the greatest lessons we have learned over the course of our time at Shaklee is not to prejudge people. Everyone has at least one challenge in their life that Shaklee provides a solution for. Learning how to have a conversation with a person is essential in discovering what their specific challenge is.
Someone starting out in this business needs to have a strong and unshakable belief in the purity, value, and efficacy of the products and of the opportunity. Without a strong belief the approach to another person is less compelling and convincing. Belief in The Shaklee Difference™ drives effective action and strengthens the overall story.
