I was born and raised in China, and after graduating from Beijing Foreign Studies University, I got on a very successful career path in the insurance industry in Shanghai. I never thought I would go abroad, but in 2008 I moved to the United States with my husband to support him in his career. Later he graduated from Columbia University and now works for Google. Those were some tough times, but we chose to fight on for our dreams. We also became parents – we now have a 7-year-old daughter, and a son who is 2. They are God’s best gifts to me and I am very grateful.
About 4 years ago, through my best friend Dilys, Judy C., Senior Master Coordinator, introduced me to Shaklee. At the time, I had a very negative opinion of multi-level marketing, but with Judy’s persistence, I joined to stop her nagging.
For the first several months in Shaklee I did not do the business, I only used the products to support my best friend’s desire to build her business. Unexpectedly my daughter and mother had amazing results with the products, and my own health improved tremendously. The bonus was I lost 30 pounds in 3 months with Shaklee 180®*. After experiencing the benefits, I started researching the ingredients in Shaklee products and tried most of the products. I began to share the products with others and indeed began to see people’s lives change. Some of those people have since joined me in the business.
I chose Shaklee because I think this company combines health and hope. I see many people's lives changed by altering the trajectory of their health and bringing them hope for a better life. Shaklee’s philosophy and culture also align with my personal pursuit in life. As an immigrant, I had to work harder to achieve the same level of accomplishments I had back in China. With all the obstacles, it was hard to dream. Now, I see Shaklee as a tool to make my and other people’s dreams possible. Shaklee has enabled me to dream again.
My goal was never to become a Master Coordinator per se. To me it’s about building a solid income-generating business. Building a Shaklee business is not easy for me, and it challenges me in so many ways. I am continually learning.
From the last couple of years, I have learned there are several elements I think are crucial in building this business: First, you need to find the right people. Not everyone will succeed in this business. The right people are those who share strongly in the Shaklee culture and who truly enjoy helping people. Second, you need to focus on your team. Organization is important because your team is the foundation of your business. You need to select and build excellent leaders to help train all the new distributors, strengthening the organization at all levels. Third, you need to be familiar with the products and build a strong retail customer base. Constant learning is key for success in any business. The final, and the most important part, is that you need to have strong determination. No matter how difficult the circumstances, you need to find a way to go on. With all that, I think you will find success in Shaklee and in life.
